Kozhikode, Jan. 29 : Hilal Mohammad, indicted in May 2002 Marad
violence, was today taken to Medical College Hospital here after
complaining of chest pain at a Manjeri jail where he is remanded in
another case, police said.
Hilal, who was initially admitted to the Manjeri district hospital,
was rushed to the Medical college this afternoon after he complained
of `constant chest pain', they said.
After his arrival, he accused the doctors of the hospital of not
providing him treatment, but later refuted the charge.
After the Marad Judicial Commission in its recent report indicted
Hilal of funding the perpetrators of violence, he had moved the court
seeking a fresh enquiry into the charges.
He surrendered before the Crime Branch police at Palakkad last week
after the High Court denied him an anticipatory bail in an
intimidation case in Malappuram.
He was remanded to judicial custody by the Manjeri First Class
Magistrate Court and was lodged in the sub-jail there.
