KOZHIKODE: Mohammed Jaffer, secretary general, Jama'at-e-Islami will inaugurate the district conference of the Jama'at-e-Islami on the beach here on February 18.
Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Jama'at-e-Islami district president V.P. Basheer and reception committee convenor Habeeb Masood said a total of 50,000 persons including 25,000 delegates are expected to attend the conference.
Mr. Basheer will preside over the inaugural meeting. Lectures on `Islamic renaissance content and practice,' `Spiritual atmosphere of Islamic life' and `Islamic reading of women's empowerment' will be delivered after the inaugural function.
`Friendly meet'
Inayathullah Subhani, a Muslim scholar from Uttar Pradesh, will inaugurate a `friendly meet' organised in the afternoon. Among those who will attend the meet include M.K. Muneer, State secretary, Indian Union Muslim League (IUML); T.P. Abdullakoya Madhani, president of the Kerala Nadvathul Mujahidheen; Hussain Randathani, principal, MES College, Mannarkkad and K.K. Aboobakker, president, Muslim Education Society (MES).
Jama'at-e-Islami Hind all-India secretary Prof.K.A. Siddique Hassan will inaugurate the public meeting in the evening. Swami Agnivesh, social activist, will be the chief guest on the occasion. Jama'at-e-Islami Kerala amir T. Arifali will preside over.
