KOZHIKODE: V.A. Parthasarathy, director, Indian Institute of Spices Research, Kozhikode, inaugurated `Ragam,' the annual cultural festival of NIT-Calicut (NIT-C), on the NIT-C campus on Wednesday evening.
G.R.C. Reddy, director, NIT-C, presided. Students' Council general secretary Deepak Jose spoke about the evolution of `Ragam' from a music festival to a veritable celebration of the varied and vibrant culture of India.
Manu A, cultural secretary (Arts), K. Saseendran, staff advisor, NIT-C, and Bijesh A.S., third year representative, spoke on the occasion.
Last year, more than 500 participants from over 75 colleges participated in Ragam.
This year's `Ragam,' with the theme `Games of chances,' will have more than 70 competitive events and prizes totalling around Rs.2 lakh. Playback singer Shaan is set to sway the campus during this year's fete. The contests will begin on Thursday .
