Name of the Course | SCADA/HMI System Development |
Duration | 2 WEEKS |
Starting date | |
Course code | PC106 |
Preamble As radio developed in the 1960’s, the first digital computers made their first appearance in remote process monitoring and control. Supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) is a system that allows an operator to monitor and control processes that are distributed among various remote sites. SCADA collects, analyze and graphically display all of the information related to processes. Using a SCADA system, occurrence of various process events can be notified and recorded so that operators can take corrective action. Also alarms can be generated depending on the process condition. After attending the course the student will become familiar with the basic aspects of HMI/SCADA packages Intellution’s iFIX and National Instruments LabVIEW DSC module. He will learn to use the graphical editor tools whereby the whole process can be visualized. Alarm handling, Historical Trending and basic knowledge of Visual Basic for Applications will also be part of this course. Other aspects such as connectivity with OPC, ActiveX controls, networks, are also part of it. The student will be able to learn/apply HMI development, Data Acquisition Systems, PLC/RTU interfaces, RTU/MTU communications, Database linking, OPC, ActiveX controls etc. This gives student a full-fledged practical exposure in developing SCADA system. | |
