New Delhi: To improve the standard of fresh engineering graduates in the country, the government has decided to establish finishing schools across the country. The finishing schools will hold classes for enhancing conceptual knowledge of the students. The classes, which will take place during vacation, would also expose students to better equipment and facilities.
The faculty for the schools would be drawn from the institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
In the first phase, the government has decided to open 8 finishing schools. Out of which, one would be overlooked by IIT Roorkee and the remaining seven would be the responsibility of NITs at Jaipur, Trichy, Kurukshetra, Suratkal, Calicut, Warrangal and Durgapur. The government would set up more finishing schools in due course.
