STANDING ADVERTISEMENT FOR FACULTY OPENINGS IN ALL BRANCHES OF ENGINEERING/ ARCHITECTURE/ MATHEMATICS/MANAGEMENT/ SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES

National Institute of Technology, Calicut an Institute of National Importance established under the NIT Act, 2007 invites applications from Indian nationals, possessing excellent academic background, commitment to quality teaching and potential for carrying out outstanding research, for faculty positions at the level of
Professor, Assistant Professor and Lecturer in various Departments of the Institute. The appointment to the positions of Professor and Assistant Professor will be in the regular cadre. Candidates aspiring to the position of Lecturers having Ph.D. degree will be considered for appointment in the regular cadre and the candidates without Ph.D. degree will be on a contract for maximum of 3 years
duration or till the candidate acquires Ph.D. degree. The contract will be renewable every year on satisfactory progress of Ph.D. work and good performance in teaching. On award of Ph.D. degree, the contractual appointment will be regularized and the candidate will be considered for the position of Assistant Professor. The performance and progress towards acquiring Ph. D. degree will be monitored continuously and the appointment shall be terminated if progress towards Ph. D. is found unsatisfactory at any stage.
Qualification:
Ph.D. degree with an excellent academic record with First Class or equivalent at the Master’s and Bachelor’s level in appropriate branch and evidence of ability to pursue independent research. Candidates without Ph.D. degree, but possessing first class Master’s degree in Engineering/ Architecture/Planning / Management will be considered only as Lecturer on contract in Engineering /Architecture/Management stream. Ph.D. is compulsory for Mathematics, Management, Science and Humanities subjects. The Candidates who are expected to complete their Ph. D degree within one year will be considered for engagement as Lecturer in Mathematics, Management, Science and Humanities streams, but will be placed on contract till Ph. D. degree is awarded. A first class (60% marks) or equivalent grade (6.5/10) is necessary at Post Graduate Level and at Bachelor’s level in all cases.

I. Interested candidates may apply in prescribed application form, which may be downloaded from the web site http://www.nitc.ac.in For obtaining the application form by post, please send a self addressed envelope (26 cm X 11 cm) to the Registrar, NIT, Calicut 673 601 writing “Request for application form for faculty appointment” on the envelope.
II. Application forms complete in all respects along with Xerox copies of certificates (Attestation not required), list of publication, reprints/preprints of publication and a detailed research plan should reach the Office of the Registrar on or before 16th June, 2008. Application received after this date may be considered in the forthcoming selection round or deferred to the next round depending on
administrative convenience. Incomplete application forms will not be entertained.
III. Applications for faculty positions will be received any time during the year. Accumulated applications will be considered in the selection committee when it meets. Deserving candidates may be given short contract appointments depending on the need of the Institute and specialization of the candidate who may appear for a permanent position in the subsequent Selection Board.
