Police receive bomb threat mail

Kozhikode: The city police on Thursday received an anonymous letter
stating that bombs would explode at the Kozhikode District Court
Complex here on Saturday. The police bomb squad and dog squad carried
out search operation in the morning. A similar threat letter was also
delivered at the office of the Malayala Manorama daily on Wednesday.
The post card signed by `Al-Azad' was handed over to Kozhikode City
Police Commissioner Balram Kumar Upadhyay.

Justice K.A. Abdul Gafoor of the High Court of Kerala is to attend
programmes including a function of the Calicut Bar Association in the
afternoon on Saturday. Police suspect that people aware of the
developments and day-to-day activities of the Court might have sent
the letter.

However, security has been tightened at the Court Complex, officials said.
