KOZHIKODE: The Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax Commissionerate in Kozhikode has mobilised Rs.198 crore in 10 months of the current financial year.
"This is a record," said Commissioner P.R. Chandrasekharan here on Wednesday.
Of this, Rs.109 crore came as central excise, he said.
Various facilities had been extended by the Commissionerate for the benefit of the taxpayers, Mr. Chandrasekharan said.
Among these were the help centre functioning on the premises of the Malabar Chamber of Commerce to provide guidance to the assessees, public grievance cell constituted at the department-level, seminars in which departmental officials answered questions from the taxpayers, and a 24-hour control room.
The Commissionerate will celebrate Central Excise Day at a programme at the YMCA International Cultural Complex on Saturday.
P. Mohanan of the Commerce and Management Department, Calicut University, and M.R. Rajesh, Kulapathi, Kasyapa Veda Research Foundation, will speak.
