Sehwag and Ganguly should open: Azhar

KOZHIKODE: Former Indian captain Mohd. Azharuddin feels that Virender Sehwag should open with Sourav Ganguly in the World Cup.

"If you are playing Sehwag, you should play him as an opener," he told reporters here on Saturday. "His place is not in the middle-order."

Azharuddin is in the city for the veterans' match against Pakistan here on Sunday in which he is leading the Indian team.

He said it was a good that team India was fielding at the World Cup. "But they should have included Mohd. Kaif in place of one of the fast bowlers; we won't need that many of them in the West Indies."

He felt Yuvraj Singh would be the key player for India in this World Cup.Abdul Qadir, who is captaining Pakistan in the three-match veterans' series, does not seem to rate the chances of his country highly. "I think Pakistan could have problems with their bowling."

He believes New Zealand and South Africa have excellent chances of triumphing in the Caribbean. "Australia's bowling looks a bit weakened, with Brett Lee out of the team with injury," he said.
