KOZHIKODE: The district panchayat has drawn up a palliative care project for ensuring better care for patients with chronic ailments.
Under the scheme, groups of trained health workers will be pressed into service in the district. These groups will rush medical aid and other requirements to the sick people.
The district panchayat has set apart Rs 6.63 lakh for the scheme. As many as 25 health workers from each block will be selected for the project. They will be given a three-day training in palliative care. Training for selected health workers will begin here on Tuesday. Training sessions will be organised in association with the existing palliative clinics in the district.
