Azhar vs Pak: Malabar in cricket craze

Kozhikode: On February 25, Kozhikode will play host to some great names in cricket from the past including Mohammed Azharuddin, Robin Singh, Abdul Quadir, Rashid Latif and Manoj Prabhakar.
 
After recovering from the World Cup football fever, the people of Kozhikode and Malabar, who always love sports than anybody else, will be much delighted  by feeling immersed in cricket craze, when India and Pakistan will face off at the Corporation Stadium in a veterans' one-day international match, the second in a three match series.
 
Mohammed Azharuddin, Manoj Prabhakar, Chetan Chauhan, Nayan Mongia, Robin Singh, Narendra Hirwani, Praveen Amre, Sanjeev Sharma, Vivek Razdan, Gursaran Singh, Venkatpathy Raju, Venkatesh Prasad, David Johnson, W V Raman and Noel David will play at the Corporation Stadium here on February 25.
 
And the cricket fans of Malabar will watch Pakistani players like Abdul Qadir, Rashid latif, Ijaz Ahmed, Mansoor Akhtar, Naveed Anjum, Mohsin Kamal, Ejaz Faquih, Ashraf Ali, Arshad Khan, Shuaib Muhammad, Ghulam Ali, Azam Khan, Mahmood Hamid, Ameer Akbar, Manzoor Elahi and Mian Muhammad in action.
 
Mohammad Azharuddin and Abdul Qadir will be the captains when India and Pakistan will play the three-match veterans' one-day series this month.
 
The other two matches in the series will be played in Udaipur  on February 23 and  in Meerut on February 27.
 
However, cricket is coming back to Kozhikode after a long gap at the right time, with the World Cup in the West Indies round the corner, so that the Board of Veteran Cricket in India(BVCI) officials hope the match would attract a big crowd.
