AICTE Sponsored Workshop on Data Analysis for Management Research in IIMK, Kozhikode, Kerala, India

FOR WHOM

This programme is primarily targeted at young teachers either doing or planning to do research in the area of management. The workshop will be also very useful for those teachers offering courses in research methods or marketing research who would like to introduce the advanced data analysis methods to their students.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the workshop is to provide hands on experience to the participants in analysing and interpreting data using statistical software. Th e participants will learn about the use of various multi- variate methods in research, how to design the study to collect data amenable for such analysis, and the issues involved in coding, editing, analysing, and reporting research data. Though other methods also will be covered, the primary focus of the workshop is on surv y esearch.

COVERAGE

Preliminaries
Design of data collection forms/research instruments and methods of assessing the reliability and validity. Issues of Scaling Editing, Coding and tabulating data using statistical softwares, Descriptive Statistics, Use of Charts and diagrams, Cross Tabulation, Hypothesis Testing Procedures.


Advanced Methods

Regression Models, Factor Analysis, Cluster analysis, Multi Dimensional Scaling, Multiple discriminant Analysis. Logistic Regression, Conjoint Analysis, etc.

PEDAGOGY


The workshop will be skill oriented and would emphasize hands on data analysis using statistical software like SPSS/Systat etc. Case studies and exercises will be used to supplement learning FEEFor Participants from AICTE approved institutions    :    Rs. 4,000.00/-
From Industry/Non-AICTE approved institutions    :                        Rs. 8,000.00/-


DATE AND VENUE

This programme will be held during May 21-26, 2007 at IIMK Campus, Kunnamangalam, Calicut. Accommodation will be provided on a twin sharing basis in the IIMK Guest Houses.

LAST DATE

Nomination forms duly endorsed by the Head of the Institution along with the Demand Draft for the required fee should reach the FDP Office latest by 10 May 2007. The acceptance will be communicated by 15 May 2007 by e-mail. DD will be returned to those who are not selected for the programme. Since the seats are limited because of the skill oriented nature of the programme, aspiring participants are requested to register early with out waiting for the deadline.
